It's done.
I'm not taking any pictures yet until I've gone back for the final touch-up, but just be aware that I GOT THAT WHISK ON LOCK DOWN.
So you may be asking, "What should I bring to my tattoo appointment when I go, Kasey?". I'll tell you right now you don't have to look any further than Cinnamon Sugar Pull-Apart bread, friend.
Last Friday I rolled up to the doors of Voluta with a box full of fresh, warm, cinnamon-y bread (and a naked forearm). Cori had been holding it in the car and it was making her lap about 10 degrees warmer than the rest of her body. If it's still warm when you deliver something, you're the hero.
The gems at Voluta need deserve more adjectives than I could possibly give them. Generous with their time, attentive, open to ideas (as any good artist should be), and 100% entertaining. These are some of the most solid people you'll meet in Indy, hands down. And they like baked things. I think we can be friends.
I'm pretty sure I stepped into another world when I entered their studio. Tiny delicate string lights and star lanterns adorned the windows, while a multitude of framed tattoo photos covered the walls. I felt like I was inside their collective brain - sketches, paintings, book after book after book, and a common table for throwing around even more ideas. This was where my bread went.
So how do you work your way into the hearts of such already lovely people with bread? How can you possibly enhance their experience while tattooing you? Remember the Lemon Sugar Pull-Apart Bread I made a while back? Of course you do... you were salivating on your keyboards. Just swap the lemon sugar with mass amounts of cinnamon sugar and you're golden. Everything else works out the same way, but with a fall-twist. Do this thing and you'll make your artist and yourself happy. Trust.
To begin, go here.
For the new filling, combine:
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
4 tablespoons butter, browned (instructions back on the original page)
It will look like a lot of sugar. It is a lot of sugar. Let's be real here... we're making cinnamon-sugar bread. You want/need/deserve all of it.
Let's proceed.
Cut it. Stack it. Bake it. Resist during the "long" car ride downtown...
Devour.
Thanks to Voluta Tattoo for being exactly who I needed them to be, and more. I hope this bread did even a fraction of that for you.
