Hi.

Just a girl, a whisk, and some counter space.

Hey.  How's your mom?  Are you a mom?  Is your mom near you at this moment?  Did you get your mom anything for Mother's Day this year?  Did you call her up and tell her you owe her/love her/need her/support her/thinks she's stellar?  I bet you did and I bet she feels the same way about you (minus the owing you her life bit).

It's Mom's Day (today!), and I'm currently eating my pathetic little bagel and shmear, wishing it was brunch, and wishing it was with my mom.  I'd make something eggy and something sweet.  Possibly french toast with crazy amazing spiced butter.  We'd be drinking yummy coffee and chatting about the vegetable gardens we both built and planted.  I'd help her walk the dogs and then sit on the porch with the remainder of our steamy cups of java and just lounge the day away.  No crazy restaurant reservations.  No getting up at the ass crack of dawn.  Just time together, acknowleding that I'm only here because she chose not to kill me every time I screwed up as a child.

Mom - I'm so glad you spared me.  ;-)

So while I move on to eating greek yogurt (lemon is a miracle flavor), I leave you with my favorite brunch-tastic menu items.  I hope that wherever you are and whatever you are doing with your mom, it's special and happy.  Tell your mom what's up for me.
